Your life can be affected by the repeated loss of sleep in every possible aspect i.e. mentally, physically and emotionally. Lack of proper sleep can deteriorate your daily work activity and may bring changes to your personality.

The vicious cycle of agony and anxiety may appear as an eternal event while you will be seeking some sound sleep night after night pondering what’s really going on with you.

According to “Sexual Snore Losers” (18 December 2005), an article of NY post written by Cathy Burke “snoring is the factor that ruins the mood for having sex in 81% couples” and on a survey on 1000 men and women resulted that “70 percent of them chosen separate bedrooms to sleep”.

What is keeping me awake? This is the question that you should ask yourself before any other question related to the fact that you discovered you can’t get enough sleep.
Millions of people suffer from sleep deprivation and insomnia. I was one of them.
At first I was having trouble sleeping because I loved to stay and look at the stars all night long… seriously.. with my telescope.

sleeping disorderHowever, out of the many causes for insomnia disorders, most young people can blame the night parties. This is not only because the young and restless are dancing and chatting all night long, but also because of the alcohol and cigarettes.
Students, next to these colorful nights, also spend the nights on learning before the exams, keeping themselves awake with a lot of coffee.

The same sleeping problems occur in night shift workers. They often experience sleep disorders because they start to feel drowsy when they can not sleep. Their biological clock tells their body to sleep while they are going to work.

What I just explained here are the most common insomnia causes:
- Drinking coffee and other drinks that contain caffeine
- Drinking alcohol
- Smoking (nicotine can keep you awake)

The first thing you should do is to limit these factors especially in the evening before sleeping. Sounds hard? Try doing that at least during the working days of the week.

There also other causes of sleep disorders which appear later on the time scale of someone’s life. I am thinking about the distress that people feel related to their work, and the lack of money.
